Mission Trip 2009
This year our team of 14 mission participants were an interesting mix of Blessing Home veterans (who had been making trips there since the beginning of Blessing Home in 1998) as well as first-timers.
For those returning to Blessing Home yet again, we were surprised at how much the children had grown in the course of a year! There were also some new faces, which meant that we had our work cut out for us trying to remember all the new Thai names (which tend to be long)! Some of the team members got around this by giving nicknames to the children; after a few days, they actually liked to be called by their nicknames!
We spent the nine days at Blessing Home making new cement floors for the washing area and around the boys' toilets, doing arts & crafts with the children, and giving them some basic computer training. We also had a music and dance session which they thoroughly enjoyed, and a movie day. Still there was time available just hanging out with the children - we're not quite sure who enjoyed the company more, them or us!
Just looking at these beautiful Blessing Home residents, we could see the potential God has placed in each one of them. Indeed we were given a glimpse of eternity, the eternity which God has set in the hearts of mankind (Ecclesiastes 3:11). We hope and pray that Blessing Home will provide the environment in which these sparks would be nurtured to burn bright for the Lord one day.
Intending to be a blessing to them on this mission, we have instead been greatly blessed by the children and staff of Blessing Home.
